Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
This page explains how recipes on My Cooking Pot are written, reviewed and kept accurate.
What we publish
Weeknight dinners, chicken, pasta, soups, beef, side dishes, baking and desserts. A recipe is published when its ingredient list, quantities, times and temperatures are complete and consistent, and its steps can be followed in an ordinary home kitchen.
Who writes
Each group of categories has an editor who is responsible for its recipes. Our editors write under pen names, and the initials shown next to their names stand in for portraits. They do not claim professional culinary titles or training. You can read about each of them on the About page.
How a recipe is made
- Development. Recipes are developed with the help of software tools, including AI, for research, drafting and images. They are based on classic, widely used methods and standard quantities.
- Review. An editor reviews every recipe before it is published (ingredients, quantities, order of steps, times and temperatures) and is responsible for it.
- Food safety. Recipes with meat, poultry, fish or eggs state the safe minimum internal temperature, for example 165°F (74°C) for chicken. Always use a food thermometer and follow safe cooking temperatures; do not rely on color or cooking time alone. Ovens, pans and ingredients vary, so times are a guide.
- Nutrition. We only show nutrition information when we have it, and it is always an estimate.
- Photos. We use our own images and licensed or public-domain photos. Generated or digitally edited images are labeled in the caption.
What we do not do
- We do not show star ratings, vote counts or reviews that readers did not leave.
- We do not invent statistics, studies, quotes or personal stories.
- We do not give medical or dietary advice. If you have an allergy or a medical condition, check every ingredient label and ask a qualified professional.
- We do not copy other websites' text or take their photos without permission.
- We do not sell coverage. Advertising and editorial decisions are separate.
